A Slough bank has addressed closure rumours after shoppers began to worry about the future of the branch.

Barclays, located in Queensmere Shopping Centre has been rumoured to be closing, with some saying it might close as soon as next week.

It comes as the redevelopment of Slough's shopping centres began in January, with businesses vacating the western side of the centre.

Now Iceland has announced it also plans to vacate its store in Queensmere, with just one month to go before it leaves.

With tensions high and bank closures on the rise, Barclays has now addressed the rumour.

A Barclays spokesperson, said: “We have no plans for Barclays Slough branch in the Queensmere Shopping Centre to close this week.

"We remain open for business and will continue to serve our customers as usual.

"If this should change in the future, we will notify our customers in the appropriate way.”

The store in Queensmere is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30am to 4:30pm, with Wednesday's opening later at 10am.
