The founder of a family-run ice rink in Bracknell has been appointed a Team GB Olympic ice hockey head coach.

Bracknell’s Ozone Ice Rink is set to become an official Olympic base for three on three hockey.

Former GB ice hockey player Danny Meyers built the Western Road ice rink himself in 2021.

"I'm extremely proud to lead my country into the Youth Olympic games and it's a job I hope to hold for many years,” said Danny Meyers.

“These games are just the start of the inevitable explosion of the 3 on 3 ice hockey format.

“We have been promoting and playing 3 on 3 hockey at Ozone since we opened and the Ozone coaches have already done a tremendous job teaching the players.

“That work will be hugely beneficial as we build the final team towards the games in Korea in 13 months' time and this news is not only a reward for myself, but for my coaches and the Ozone staff".

Ozone now employs twenty-one members of staff, many of whom are friends of Danny and his family and have supported their journey from the very beginning.

“As a member of Bracknell BID we’re passionate about supporting local businesses and are delighted that this news will also bring lots of positive outcomes to the area including new trade and of course some great publicity.”
