Residents across Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead fell silent on November 11 and Remembrance Sunday to pay tribute to the lives lost in the armed forces.

Here is a recap on the events that took place to make the day.

SLOUGH:

On Remembrance Sunday a service was held at the Town Square from 10.40am to 11.30.

Following a moment of silence, attendees proceeded on to St. Mary’s Church, Church Street, Slough for a service and to lay wreaths.

Other services were held in Cippenham and Burnham on Remembrance Sunday.

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough & South Bucks had the honour to lay three wreaths at the Services held by the respective Royal British Legion branches of Cippenham and Burnham.

This follows on from the Community’s Poppy Appeal collections over the last two weeks in ASDA Cippenham and Sainsbury’s Uxbridge Road.

Secretary Outreach for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough, Atiq Ahmad Bhatti said: “It is always a humbling time to have the honour to lay a wreath on Remembrance Sunday and join alongside the many thousands around the country who come together at this poignant time of year to remember those who fought for our tomorrow."

WINDSOR:

On Remembrance Sunday, a service was held at the war memorial on Windsor High Street outside the Parish Church of St John the Baptist and was attended by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Gary Muir.

The Windsor and Maidenhead services were organised in partnership with the local branches of the Royal British Legion, who were in attendance.

Ex-service, uniformed, and youth organisations also attended and participated in the wreath-laying ceremony. 

The ceremonies were followed by a church service at St Mary’s Church in Maidenhead and Windsor Parish Church. 

MAIDENHEAD:

On Friday, November 11 the council held a short Act of Remembrance from 10.50am at the War Memorial outside Maidenhead Town Hall.

The Act of Remembrance was led by The Mayor, Councillor Christine Bateson, and those attending who observed a two-minute-silence at 11am.

On Remembrance Sunday, November 13 the council held a service from 10.50am in Maidenhead and observe a two-minute-silence at 11am.

The Maidenhead service was held at the War Memorial outside Maidenhead Town Hall and attended by the Mayor.
