PLANS to build 47 homes near the controversial Maidenhead golf course site have been submitted.

This is just one of the many applications submitted to local authorities in Slough, Windsor, and Maidenhead in the past seven days.

A pizza takeaway won’t open in Granville Avenue, Slough (P/02415/018).

Granville Stores, which is a butcher and a convenience shop, wanted to change its use to become a pizza takeaway and install an extractor duct.

They say this will add ‘diversity’ to the area. But not everyone was happy with the application. Neighbours objected to the scheme, fearing the extractor fans will disturb their peace and quiet.

Planning officers sided with the residents and blocked the scheme.

Another planning application for the mass development of South West Maidenhead has come forward – which sees about 2,600 homes proposed.

In Elivia Homes’ scheme, it seeks to demolish Adam Cottage, Harvest Hill House, and Grove House on land south of Harvest Hill Road to build 29 detached and semi-detached homes and two apartment blocks containing 18 flats.

The housing mix consists of two, three, four, and five-bedroom homes and one and two-bedroom flats. 30 per cent of the homes are proposed to be affordable.

Eighty-two car parking spaces are provided, including four visitor bays and one disabled bay. A further 10 spaces are provided in garages and one electric vehicle charging point is provided per unit.

Each home will also have cycle parking and 19 bays are provided for the apartments via a secure and sheltered cycle store. Each home could also have a private garden and each apartment could have private balconies.

A children’s play area could also be erected on the open space land to the south of the estate. Landscaping and biodiversity measures are also included.

Future homeowners could build their own house at Pond View, Stud Green, Holyport, Maidenhead (22/02789/OUT).

A developer has submitted an outline planning permission for access only to be considered at this stage, meaning the council is asked if it agrees with the principle of development before a full application is submitted.

The scheme involves earmarking four service plots adjacent to Pond View to allow future landowners to build their own homes.

This is called self-build and custom housebuilding where individuals are involved in building or managing the construction of their home from beginning to end.

Further applications will come forward in the future for individual homeowners to gain planning permission to build their dream house.
