PERMIT parking could be rolled out to residential roads in Colnbrook in a bid to stop airport car parking companies from dumping vehicles.

Colnbrook with Poyle councillor Puja Bedi (Con) said she and her colleague Cllr Dexter Smith (Con) will be releasing a survey to gather views if locals agree with their idea.

This will involve introducing permit parking in some of the residential streets in Colnbrook where homeowners will have to pay a yearly charge to park their vehicles outside their houses.

This is in a bid to stop Heathrow airport car parking companies from leaving holidaymakers’ vehicles outside residents’ homes for weeks. This is something that’s plagued Colnbrook and Langley for years.

Slough Borough Council and Thames Valley Police originally said because there are no parking restrictions in place on the affected roads and the vehicles are taxed, no enforcement action can be taken.

One Colnbrook local said he has seen some vehicles left in residential streets for over a month. Cllr Bedi said: “Residents are very unhappy because our roads are just a car park. It’s very unfair.”

She added: “I don’t think Slough Council will say no to [implementing permit parking] because it’s a bit of income that can fill up the teapot, but we need to canvas residents to see how they feel about having permit parking.

“There will be a cost attached but it means our roads will possibly be a bit freer from the likes of these companies parking their cars and leaving them there for weeks and free up space for us.”
