PLANS to possibly add a new cinema, homes, and a hotel at Windsor Yards as part of a £100m investment are ‘expected’ to be submitted soon.

UREF LP property fund has been consulting with residents over potential schemes to make the centre into a ‘modern development’.

Some of the ideas include a new cinema, hotel, offices, and homes, an extension to the existing Travelodge, public realm enhancements, and refurbishing the multi-storey car park.

A final planning application for the regeneration of the 260,700sqft shopping centre, which has a mix of retail, hotel, supermarket, car park, and residential, is ‘expected’ to be submitted to the council for determination in the coming weeks.

It is anticipated a final decision will be made by the Windsor planning committee sometime early next year.

It is hoped the changes will make Windsor Yards more attractive to businesses – particularly restaurants and bars – creating 700 jobs, an improved retail offer, and revigorate the town’s nighttime economy.

A two-day consultation event was held in July where  Windsor councillors, Eton town councillors, the Windsor and Eton Society, the Ward Royal Residents Association, and more than 300 residents were consulted.

They said their £100m investment was ‘broadly welcomed’ by residents – with some calling the proposals “positive” for Windsor.

Peter Daniel, Chairman of Daniel in Windsor, said: "As a retailer which has been based at the heart of Windsor since 1918, we are delighted to support this significant investment into the Windsor Yards Shopping Centre which will do so much to benefit our high street and attract people to the town. These proposals have our full support.”
