A father died at a John Lewis-owned private members club, a coroner has revealed.
Brian Hibbert, 61, from Maidenhead, died at the Odney Club in Cookham on July 5, 2022.
Reading Coroner’s Court heard how Mr Hibbert was identified by his wife and daughter.
Senior Berkshire Coroner Heidi Connor said a post-mortem had been carried out since the 61-year-old’s passing, and the proposed cause of death was asphyxiation.
The inquest was opened on Wednesday, August 17, and subsequently adjourned by Ms Connor while the Coroner’s Court gathers more information on the circumstances surrounding Mr Hibbert’s death.
No date was given for when it will resume.
Ms Connor paid her condolences to Mr Hibbert’s family and friends.
A spokesperson for the Odney Club said: "Our thoughts are with Mr Hibbert's family."
The Odney Club is a private members club with a restaurant, manor house, hotel and therapy suite on site.
