1. 'Incredible' jacket potato stand celebrates 31 years trading on high street

Slough Observer:

JACKET potatoes have been a big hit in Slough for 31 years.

The popular potato stand on Slough High Street is run by Jack Hughes, his sister Jane and brother Johnny.

The family earns a living serving freshly cooked spuds seven days a week to many locals and visitors in the town.

Jane said she loves the job because of how lovely the customers are.

She said: “I don’t ever want to leave, I love it and I don’t think I could do anything else."

2. Soldier, 29, found 'hanging' at Windsor Great Park, inquest hears

Slough Observer:

A Coldstream Guard was found ‘hanging’ in Windsor Great Park, a court has heard. 

Adam Hall, 29, was serving at the Victoria Barracks in Windsor at the time of his death on July 13, 2022. 

The infantry soldier was found deceased at Queen Anne’s Ride at Windsor Great Park. 

At the opening of the inquest into his death, senior Berkshire coroner Heidi Connor said a post-mortem had been carried out following Hall’s passing.

3. Look inside the new Danish bakery offering tasty surprises and treats

Slough Observer:

A new bakery has popped up right in the heart of Windsor town centre and people are raving about it.

Ole and Steen, the all-day bakery from Denmark, opened on Thursday, August 4, to hundreds of Windsor residents and tourists.

Customers were excited to see their vast array of cakes and savoury snacks, including the variety of their famous homemade breads.

4. Pub's plea to break the stigma around men's mental health

Slough Observer:

A PUB in Windsor has started a campaign to break the stigma around men's mental health.

The Queen Charlotte, on Church Lane, Windsor, is 'turning its bar blue' to raise awareness and money for men's mental health.

It will be in conjunction with the charity Mentell and all the staff will be wearing clothing from the brand 'Boys Get Sad Too', which donates 10 per cent of its profits to Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

5. Slough youngster, 18, died after falling off e-scooter, inquest hears

Slough Observer:

A Slough boy died after falling off an e-scooter, an inquest has heard. 

Mason Pitt, aged 18, died at Wexham Park Hospital on June 11, 2022, following an incident riding an e-scooter. 

His identity was confirmed by a police officer. 

A post-mortem carried out following his death revealed Mason died of neck trauma.
