A SUMMER fayre and duck race returned to Windsor for the first time in three years.

The Windsor and Eton Summer Fayre and Duck Race was held at Alexandra Gardens on Saturday, June 25.

Organised by Windsor and Eton Rotary Club, families were invited to enjoy a day of entertainment, stalls and raising money for local charities.

The event traditionally finishes with a duck race on the River Thames near the Windsor Boys School boating sheds.

President Adrian Benge said: “It was amazing to greet the Mayor, Cllr Christine Bateson, in person on Saturday and for her to officially open our Summer Fayre for the first time in three years.

“The Mayor did a great job, talking to local charities and community groups on their stalls and wishing them well for the event.”

The stalls were free for charities and community groups to raise money for their cause.

Mr Benge added: “We had a funfair for the kids and made use of the bandstand, with local groups entertaining the hundreds of people who brought their families to enjoy the day.”

This year, sales were boosted by a new initiative thought up by Windsor Town Manager, Paul Roach.

He came up with the idea of a Platinum duck, which retailers and businesses loved, to raise thousands different local causes.
