Thousands of people from around the world packed into Windsor Castle this afternoon (Monday, June 13) as three new members of the Order of the Garter were inducted.

The Duchess of Cornwall was installed as a Royal Lady, Baroness Amos – the master of university college Oxford was installed as a Lady Companion and Sir Tony Blair received his ‘2nd knighthood’ in the form of a Knight Companion.

The Queen did not take part in the Royal Procession to the chapel, however she was present at the ceremony where she stood between Charles and Camilla in a silver white gown and her blue Garter sash.

As the procession entered St Georges Chapel, 4000 people were positioned in the ‘Lower Ward’ of the castle where they saw Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Princess Royale before entering the church.

Residents of the castle got front row seats from their terraces within the grounds of St Georges Chapel. They donned their hats and floral dresses to welcome the Royals and officials to the castle.

As the procession exited the chapel, further Royals could be seen, including the Duchess of Cambridge and the Countess and Earl of Wessex. Royals exited in the carriages where the crowd were able to catch a glimpse of them again in their finery.

Pat Gardener and Madeline Ferguson who enjoyed the day with the 4000 said: “The weather really was with us today, we were very lucky.”

Steve Isenberg joined the throng on the sunny Monday afternoon all the way from New York.
