A DANCER who trained in Slough will be the first deaf contestant to head into the Love Island villa this year.

Tasha Ghouri, 23, of Thirsk, is confirmed to be in this year’s line-up for the ITV2 reality TV show.

Tasha trained at Creative Academy, on Stoke Poges Lane, Slough, where she graduated with a 1st class honours degree in Dance Performance.

Speaking to ITV, she said her dating life is a “shambles”.

She said: "This is an opportunity for me to find ‘the one’ and have a great summer at the same time. I'm definitely ready for a relationship."

And Creative Academy manager George Kirkham shared his excitement for Tasha.

He said: “We are exceptionally proud of Tasha and all her achievements, from graduating with a 1st in 2019, to dancing with Joshua Base Pilmore and modelling for ASOS, Tasha is a great example of the kind, talented and professional graduates Creative Academy produces.

“We will all be voting for Tasha each week.”

Tasha's best friend Joshua Base Pilmore, who also trained her at Creative Academy, said she was a fantastic student who never used her disability as a crutch.

He said: "I remember this one time we were rehearsing for a big project and the tape that holds her cochlear implant in came off and mid way through dancing she lost all hearing - rather than stop she powered through with us all cheering her on.

"This was such a break through moment for Tasha and I am extremely proud of the young woman she has become.”
