A CHARITY in Windsor said it is “honoured” to be part of this year’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Busy Buttons CORE charity, in Windsor Yards, is working on creating The Platinum Orb, which is a 10 feet tall spherical art installation with 70 cycle wheels to represent the monarch’s 70-year reign.

It will be display on The Long Walk over the jubilee weekend from June 5 and 5.

The 54 Commonwealth member countries will be represented by their national flowers, which will be made from recycled materials decorating the bicycle wheels.

The project involved school children, Duke of Edinburgh students, adult groups and the local community in a series of free creative workshops and volunteering opportunities

Supported by Arts Council England, Community Lotto Fund, Berkshire Community Foundation and the Prince Philip Trust Fund, thousands of members of the public contributed to making the art installation to pay tribute to Her Majesty.

They have been collecting plastic milk bottles and cycle wheels to help make The Platinum Orb.

Busy Buttons is also offering local business and individuals the opportunity to get their name on one of the wheels.

Community groups, families and friends can get involved by sponsoring the cost of a wheel together or making a donation for the ‘Wheel Appeal’.

The charity kicked off its series of Platinum Jubilee community workshops at Windsor Castle working with its Duke of Edinburgh students from May 8.
