BERKSHIRE residents have been urged to hand in their knives as part of a national police crackdown on knife crime.
Thames Valley Police is joining forces across the country by taking part in Operation Sceptre, a national week of action designed to challenge and reduce the threat of knife crime across the Thames Valley area.
The knife amnesty will run next week, between Monday (May 16) and Sunday (May 22).

During this time, the police will remind members of the public that they can safely and anonymously dispose of any type of knife or bladed article.
The aims of the operation are to remove dangerous weapons from the streets, reduce knife crime and raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.
Permanent knife amnesty bins are located in the following police stations:
- Loddon Valley
- Maidenhead
- Newbury
- Reading
- Slough
- Reading; Waitrose Car Park, Caversham, Cintra Park, Coley Park Community Centre, Kensington Park, Orts Road, Tilehurst Triangle
