A BUBBLE tea cafe is giving away cash prizes this month to celebrate the Vietnamese New Year.

Paeonia in Windsor town centre is celebrating the Lunar New Year by giving away 100 red envelopes containing special offers inside.

The Vietnamese New Year, also called Tết Nguyên Đán, falls on Tuesday, February 1, and is the most important festival of the year in Vietnam, celebrating love, the start of spring and the best of hopes for the new year.

Owner of Paeonia Anh Pham, said: “Tet is very much part of Vietnamese culture. In Vietnam, red envelopes are given at social and family gatherings, including new year. Red symbolises good luck and is believed to ward off evil spirits.

“There will be none of those at Paeonia from 1st to 3rd February, as our staff hand out lucky red envelopes to every customer who makes a purchase - until 100 have been given out.”

The envelopes will contain vouchers but five of them will contain up to £50 in cash.
