ARMED police were called to make sure a gun from World War One was safe after its surprise discovery this weekend.
Thames Valley Police Specials tweeted to say the pistol and various ammunition had been found in a house undergoing renovation in the Royal borough t in a post on January 9.
The Hampshire and Thames Valley Police Armed response team were called out “to ensure they [the weapons] were safe for transportation and booking in.”

The Twitter post read: “What do your @RBWM specials do?
“Almost everything the regulars do.
“Investigated this WWI pistol and various ammunitions hidden in a house under renovation before getting help from @JOU_ArmedPolice to ensure they were safe for transportation and booking in.”
