ELDERLY residents have shared their pearls of wisdom for younger generations - including “don't bet on odds of favourites" and “think before you speak”.
Care UK's Mountbatten Grange on Helston Lane, Windsor, tried to keep its residents occupied with staff asking them to give their best life lessons to children.
Clewer Green CE First School has worked closely with the care home before the pandemic struck.
The task, which aimed to help the “youth of today”, generated some hilarious and heartwarming responses.

One resident, Joan, told youngsters to "listen to your brain and don’t bother about what other people think. We all think differently, and everyone has their own opinions.”
89-year-old resident Maura said: “think before you speak” and “don’t bother about what other people think”.
Betty, aged 88 added: “Toleration – in marriage, tolerate and work with one and another - be happy with what you have.”
The school will be displaying the advice on a board in the classroom to remind them of the great advice given to them.
Another resident, James aged 84, shared his advice and said: "Don’t bet on odds of favourites, they’re unreliable.”

Having the children visit the care home left one resident feeling happy
Maura said: “They reminded me of my younger days. The visits from Clewer Green CE First School were such a pleasure, so I loved being able to interact with the children. Children these days are so clever."
Debbie Winwood, home manager at Mountbatten Grange, said: “It was lovely to hear the advice the residents shared with the pupils at Clewer Green CE First School.
“Here at Mountbatten Grange, we understand that intergenerational relationships have been proven to be enriching for all ages, and give older people a sense of purpose. This activity has provided a fantastic opportunity for both children and residents to learn from each other.
“We are looking forward to continue building upon our relationship with Clewer Green CE First School and we hope to see them very soon.”
