A BUBBLE tea room is set to open its doors in Windsor next week.

Paeonia will open a cafe next to Windsor Royal Station on Saturday, October 9.

The UK’s first bubble tea shop opened in Soho, London, in 2011, and in the last decade shops have popped up all over the country.

Bubble tea is a tea-based drink served cold, hot or iced (most popularly the latter) with chewy tapioca bubbles providing a glorious and moreish mix of textures.

Originating in Taiwan in the 1980s, the last few years have seen an increasing amount of bubble tea rooms open in the UK, with 2020, in particular, seeing a boom in popularity of the Asian delight.

Paeonia’s bubble tea is made using a Teapresso Machine imported from Taiwan - the first UK shop to use this piece of equipment.

The process features a multi-section infusion stage, allowing the tea to brew to optimum temperature, before the tapioca balls – or popping balls and other toppings – are added.

The menu features a vast selection of bubble tea ranging from classic milk tea to speciality milk tea, along with fruit tea, ice tea and fluffy cheese tea. Customers can also customise their drink, opting for the amount of sweetness, ice and extra toppings.

This sweet, delectable drink – also known as pearl milk tea, bubble milk tea, or boba – is served with an oversized straw, meanings customers can slurp their tea and chew the tapioca. Hot organic tea will also be served, with breakfast, Earl Grey and chamomile all appearing on the menu.

Paeonia is the latest venture from acclaimed foodie Anh Pham, who has spent the past decade working in the UK’s hospitality industry. A tea lover with a strong passion for food and beverages, Anh has tasted bubble tea all over the world and set about creating her own recipes – unlike anything currently on offer in the UK.

The shop will feature floral decorations and chic lighting, culminated in a contemporary, up-market space.

It is also deemed to be an Instagrammable haven for tourists and locals alike, Paeonia’s bubbling teavolution is set to be a popular with customers when it opens.
