DOGS are a massive part of the family and when they suddenly disappear, the yearning to know where they are can be heartbreaking.

Some stolen dogs can be found quickly but some families can go months or even a whole year wondering what has happened to their furry friends.

DogsLost is an organisation that helps reunite thousands of missing dogs with their owners around the country.

It is run almost entirely by volunteers and charges no fees for its services, so if your pet is lost or stolen you can easily report it and print posters straight away.

It comes after Ministers called for a change in the law to make pet abductions a criminal offence under Government plans to crackdown on dognappers.

The new law would reflect the severity of the crimes carried out by pet thieves by taking into account the emotional distress it can cause the animal and acknowledging they represent far more than just property to their owners.

RSPCA chief executive Chris Sherwood welcomed plans to acknowledge the “seriousness” of the crime and said: “We hope this will encourage courts to hand out much tougher sentences to pet thieves.”

So with pet thefts being more prominent than ever, we have listed every single dog which has been reported stolen on the DogLost website in the hope of the public finding these loveable creatures.
