A Maidenhead pub and restaurant has been forced to close temporarily due to a confirmed case of Covid-19.

The White Oak, in The Pound, Cookham, has cancelled all reservations until September 8.

In an Instagram post, the White Oak’s account stated: “We are very sorry for the disappointment and frustration this may cause guests who have made reservations.

“We share your frustration but are acting cautiously and responsibly for the safety [sic] and to protect our team and guests.”

In the week ending August 28, there were almost 339 new infections per 100,000 people in Reading, according to the latest government statistics.

The White Oak first opened in 2008, winning a Michelin Bib Gourmand award four years later and retaining every year through 2020.

It has featured in the AA Restaurant & Guide every year since 2013, Waitrose’s the Good Food Guide since 2015 and both the Michelin Red & Pub Guides.
