Contentious plans to convert Maidenhead office space into new flats h planning approval by the council.

Developers had lodged proposals that would have seen offices in Belmont Place, Belmont Road, Maidenhead into 18 new flats.

These plans had proved divisive with local residents, with many submitting objections to the planning application.

Concerns in relation to increased traffic and congestion, over-development of the nearby area and a lack of available parking.

In total, nine objections were sent to the council.

These plans were subsequently refused planning application last week, with the council saying that developers had to gain prior approval on the following areas:

  • Transport and highways impacts of the development
  • Contamination risk on the site
  • Flooding risks on the site
  • Impacts of noise from commercial premises on the intended occupiers of the development
