The current car park currently provides 50 spaces and residents feared this loss will cause car parking to overspill onto the streets.
They also feared the designs will create a ‘cramped’ form of development and are not in keeping with the area.
Ward councillor John Bowden (Con) shared their concerns and called for this application to be determined by the planning panel if officers recommended this for approval.
This did go to the planning panel, but a majority of councillors agreed with planning officers that the revised scheme will not form a cramped development, nor will it cause an impact on the highways.
The plans were approved on July 21.
