OFSTED, or the Office for Standards in Education, inspects and rates all state schools across England to judge the quality of education pupils are receiving.

According to the latest ratings, there are currently six schools in that have been rated as 'requires improvement' or ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted.

Here is a list of all the schools that have been rated 'inadequate' or 'requiring improvement' in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead area.

Slough Borough Council, Slough - Requires Improvement

- Latest full report: January 16, 2018

During the school's last visit, the Ofsted inspector concluded that: "Too much teaching, particularly in English and mathematics, fails to motivate learners.

"As a result, their progress is often too slow."

They also added: " Governors, leaders and managers better understand the strengths and weaknesses of the service than at the time of the previous inspection.

"They have comprehensive plans in place to secure further improvements."

Eton Wick CofE First School, Windsor - Requires Improvement

During the school's last visit, the Ofsted inspector concluded that: "Leaders, including governors, have correctly identified where improvements are required.

"However, although their actions are sensible, they have not been consistent or rigorous enough in their approach."

The inspector did however also have this to say: "Children in early years make good progress because teaching is good and leadership is strong.

"They leave early years having achieved standards higher than those currently achieved nationally."

Beechwood School, Slough - Requires Improvement

The report reads:"Pupils’ progress in GCSE examinations in recent years has been significantly below that of other pupils nationally in many subjects," however the inspector later added: "Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported well and the school is very inclusive.

"Pupils are tolerant and respectful of other pupils’ differences."

The King's House School, Windsor - Inadequate

Referring to the inspection before this, the inspector writes of this Christian school: "At the last full inspection, weaknesses were identified in the school’s provision to promote tolerance and respect of different cultures.

"Inconsistent approaches in ensuring pupils’ good behaviour were also identified."

The inspector did add however: "As part of the curriculum review, leaders and governors have made sure that pupils are given the opportunity to explore the concept of fundamental British values.

"Pupils learn about democracy and the rule of law, as well learning about other faiths and religions, as part of their topic-based learning.

"Older pupils are given the opportunity to discuss equalities and differences in lifestyles, paying particular regard to disability, race and gender.

"This includes discussion sessions where pupils might consider how different family groups are composed for instance.

"As a consequence, pupils leaving the school at the end of Year 6 will be better prepared for life in modern Britain."

Khalsa Secondary Academy, Slough - Inadequate

The report states: "Overall, expectations of pupils with SEND are low and their needs are not accurately identified, assessed or met."

"The report did also mention that leaders at the school are working hard.

"Many have stepped up to try to fill gaps in leadership.

"However, they do not have the training or support that they need to be effective in these roles."

Dedworth Middle School, Windsor - Requires Improvement

- Latest report: November 23, 2018

The report reads: "The school has declined in recent years due to ineffective leadership.

"Leaders have not ensured that the quality of teaching and pupils’ progress are consistently good."

Further in the report, the inspector noted: "Current leaders have created a culture of openness and community.

"Staff strongly support the drive to improve the school."
