1. The 'what the f***...' email that almost collapsed the Olly Stephens murder trial

THE TRIAL of the two teenagers accused of murdering Olly Stephens almost collapsed after lawyers for one of the boys demanded the Judge handling the case step down.

This came after a number of incidents involving Judge Heather Norton which the defence suggested constituted the use of ‘improper language’ and ‘inappropriate conduct bordering on hostility’.

2. Travellers pitch up at local park after being moved

The encampment has stopped off at Victoria Recreation Ground after they were told to leave John Rabson Recreation Ground by the council.

3. New Dutch-style chip shop to open in town

A grade II listed former vape shop will become a Dutch fast-food takeaway restaurant, with plans approved on Friday.

The UK’s first Chipstar franchise will move into 3 Broad Street in Reading’s town centre after the council approved the proposal. The company specialises in Dutch fries and describes itself as ‘potato experts’.

4. Man stabbed and robbed in car while 'giving directions' in Caversham

Reading Chronicle:

 

A MAN was stabbed through the hand and robbed in his car after trying to give directions in Caversham last week, causing police to launch an appeal.

On Friday, July 23, at around 9.40pm, a 37 year old man was driving down Piggotts Road, Caversham, when he was approached by a woman asking for directions.

5. Reading FC striker heads out on loan

Reading FC striker Nahum Melvin-Lambert has completed a loan move to St Patrick’s Athletic.

The 18-year-old forward spent time at St Patrick's earlier in the year and scored his first professional goal during his spell with the Irish top-flight side.
