A CONFUSING notice in local newspapers has prompted a leading councillor to clarify that the council is not selling any land at a Maidenhead riverside park.
In the ad, the Royal Borough announced it intended to dispose of a portion of land at Guards Club Park.
It stated: “Notice is hereby given that the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead intends to dispose of land by way of granting easement at Guards Club Park, Maidenhead, Berkshire which land forms part of an open space and is shown delineated between points A and X for identification purposes only on a plan.”

The plan can be seen at the Maidenhead Library.
This prompted residents to fear that the open space will be removed or sold off to developers.
However, councillor Donna Stimson (Con: St Mary’s), lead member for climate change, sustainability, parks, and countryside, took to Facebook to clarify the park land is not being sold off.
She said: “This [the notice] relates to a Network Rail request for a right of way across the car park of Guards Club Park to reach the railway lines behind as and when they need to access the line to undertake works.
“There was a requirement to publish notice of this – to be clear no park land is being sold.”
