THE opening plans for a new Aldi superstore has been revealed as bosses say construction remains “on track”.

Ever since councillors on the Royal Borough planning panel gave the thumbs up for a new discount supermarket to be built on Dedworth Road last year, future shoppers have been eager as to when they can visit the store to fetch some bargains.

In a new update to the Observer, an Aldi spokesperson said: “Construction for our new Dedworth Road store continues to progress well and we remain on track to open in November 2021, giving even more people the opportunity to shop and save closer to home.”

Last month, a spokesperson gave a small update on the progress of the construction, saying it was “progressing well” and will create 40 jobs for the local area.

Jobs were circulating online, such as store assistant, for Windsorians to apply for.

The upcoming Aldi store, which is built on the former Windsor garden centre site, has not been met with controversy among neighbours since the demolition phase.

The demolition of the garden centre caused quite a stir for nearby residents, describing the noise, vibrations, and dust as a ‘war zone’.

The Royal Borough said the level of noise was deemed what you would expect from a demolition site and one week was particularly noisy due to a concrete slab being removed.
