MAIDENHEAD town centre will take another hit as Poundland announces they will be closing their High Street store.
The popular national chain confirmed to the Local Democracy Reporting Service today (Wednesday, June 9) their shop on 106-108 High Street will be closing on June 16.
This is due to their lease expiring.

A Poundland spokesman said: “We’re as disappointed as our colleagues and customers to be closing our store in High Street, Maidenhead, on June 16. Sadly, our lease has expired.
“Where we close a store, it goes without saying we always work hard to look after colleagues directly affected.”
While the store will remain vacant after June 16, developers were given the go-ahead last April to build a six-storey apartment block, compromising of 14 flats above Poundland.
The approved plans consist of six one-bedroom apartments, eight two-bedroom flats – two of them being wheelchair accessible –and an under croft which will provide a 14-space car park and four cycle spaces.

In the design and access statement, it said the ground floor retail unit, Poundland, would be retained.
This is one of many retailers and businesses shutting down their operations in Maidenhead, including New Look, Monsoon, Hardedge, and Tesco Metro.
