MINOR drug offences are quite common in Magistrates’ Courts.

Most people who plead guilty to drug possession are fined for their offence -- but some get other sentences.

Here are five people from Berkshire who were in the dock after being caught with cannabis.

Adam Rouf, of Ray Lea Close, Maidenhead, was fined £84 after he was caught with the class B drug in Maidenhead in September 2020.

Appearing at Slough Magistrates Court in March 2021, the 21-year-old was also told to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

His drugs were also ordered to be destroyed.

Myron Nartey, of Cavendish Road, Reading, was fined twice as much as Rouf.

He was ordered to pay a £200 penalty for being caught in possession of cannabis in Reading in May 2020.

At his sentencing at Reading Magistrates Court in January 2021, he was also ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

Basem Ammar, was handed a £150 fine for being in possession of cannabis.

The 25-year-old, of Salt Hill Way, was caught out in Slough on April 1, 2020.

He was also told to pay costs and a victim surcharge at Slough Magistrates Court in April 2021.

Lee Sharkey, of Newton Road, Newbury, got away without a fine, however.

The 32-year-old was caught with three bags of cannabis in Reading in November 2019.

He had to wait until May 2021 for his sentencing, however, where he was told he would be made to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order.

And last but not least, Max Gardner was fined £80 for being found with cannabis in Maidenhead in June 2020.

The 23-year-old was told to pay costs and a victim surcharge when he appeared at Reading Magistrates Court in January 2021.
