SHOCKING CCTV footage has been shared by police showing an 'opportunist' thief stealing bay trees outside a house in Maidenhead.

Thames Valley Police shared the videos as part of their video doorbell campaign to catch thiefs carrying crimes in the Royal Borough.

The CCTV shows a man sneaking up to the front door of the house. 

He then takes a plant pot with a bay tree in it and runs off without knowing he's been caught on camera.

Polic said he stole two trees from outside the house.

Slough Observer:

Police said: "This man may well have walked onto all sorts of people’s driveways, looking for crime opportunities. If you don’t have a video doorbell – think about getting one.

"If you have one, check the footage regularly and send any clips of suspicious activity, even if you have not actually been a victim of a crime to the police.

"Even if the images are blurred and the offender – as in this case - covers his face with a hoody. Our teams can often recognise and identify an offender by their clothes, stature, walk, bearing, or demeanour!"
