GOOGLE is using location data gathered from phones to help public health officials understand how people’s movements have changed in response to the global coronavirus pandemic.
The reports use data from people who have opted in to storing their location history with Google.
The Covid-19 Community Mobility Report dated May 8, looks at data between Saturday, March 27, and Saturday, May 8, 2021.
The data shows there has been a decrease in the number of people visiting parks.

This area has seen an eight per cent decrease in visitors compared to the baseline.
There has also been a drop in the number of people visiting retail and recreation spaces including shops and restaurants.
These areas have seen a 40 per cent decrease compared to the baseline.
Visits to residential areas have increased (8 per cent rise compared to the baseline).
The data comes as people aged 38 and 39 are expected to be invited to book their Covid vaccinations from tomorrow morning in England, according to NHS sources.

It comes just 12 days after people over the age of 40 were told they could book their first Covid vaccine jab.
From Thursday (May 13), People aged 38 and 39 will be receiving texts from NHS England informing them that they are allowed to book an appointment, according to reports.
