The NHS team responsible for the roll out of the Covid-19 vaccine across Slough and Windsor area is calling on people to be patient as they wait their turn.

Anxieties have been expressed online as people have seen neighbours or acquaintances invited to attend appointments and worried why their own nearest and dearest have not been contacted yet.

One woman contacted the Observer to express fears her mother might have 'slipped through the net' as a neighbour had been vaccinated.

This week the East Berkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which is responsible for the supply of medical equipment in the area, called for people to be patient.

A statement said: "We’d like to reassure patients that no one person is prioritised over another and that strict JCVI (Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation) guidance is adhered to at all times.

"In Slough and surrounding areas, the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination continues with thousands more expected to be vaccinated over the coming days, weeks and months.

"We are currently vaccinating three priority groups as per the guidance from NHS England. These are patients who are over the age of 80, care home residents and health care staff.

"The NHS has a clear vaccine delivery plan and we will contact you when it's your turn to get the vaccine as quickly and easily as possible.

"The first local vaccination services will be led by GPs, practice nurses and community pharmacists, with other services to follow over the coming weeks.

"You will be contacted directly by your GP with an invitation letter for your vaccine. This letter will include all the information you need, including your NHS number.

"We know lots of people will be eager to get protected but we are asking people not to contact the NHS to get an appointment until they get their letter."

The CCG concludes with three big 'asks'.

'Don’t contact the NHS to seek a vaccine, we will contact you.'

'When we do contact you, please attend your booked appointments.'

"Continue to follow all the guidance to control the virus and save lives.'
