Budding DJ Sam MacGregor has received the Christmas present of his dreams this year - the chance to take to the airwaves on BBC Radio One.

Maidenhead man Sam, 22 - a former pupil at Claires Court School - has already won a Best Presenter prize at last year's National Student Radio Awards.

He and his friend Danni Diston were consequently asked to take part in Radio 1's Christmas Presenter Search - sitting in for Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton presenting the young adult's advice show Life Hacks and the chart show on December 27.

Sam said: "It's absolutely wild.

“It’s a pleasure to be sitting in the hot seat on BBC Radio 1 and an absolute dream of mine that I get to fulfil, not only alongside my best mate but along with the nation.

"I’m truly grateful for all the endless support and encouragement I’ve received both past and present from Claires Court - thank you.”

James Wilding, Academic Principal at Claires Court, said: “We’re immensely proud of Sam. Sam’s progression to the limelight commenced with voice and guitar; he’s a consummate performer and has so much courage."

Sam currently works as a social media manager for a tech start-up, while his friend and co-host Danni Distoni from Cornwall teaches at a special educational needs school.
