A songwriter who achieved his lifelong dream of recording a record after battling brain cancer was this week lying in hospital - after suffering a seizure on the day the record was released.

Jeff Morton, 59, of Rokesby Road, Britwell recorded his song Home for Christmas in the Langley Recording Studio owned by Julian Gabriah.

Now he is hoping he will be well enough to make the lyric come true, and spend Christmas at home with his partner Tish.

The record is released through Julian's Heavy Traffic Music record label.

It all began when Julian saw Jeff singing his own songs at Slough's Herschel Arms pub a year ago.

He invited Jeff to the studio where he recorded 10 his songs.

It had been a tough time for Jeff who has undergone treatments for lung and brain cancer.

But he was feeling well when Home for Christmas record was released on Spotify and iTunes earlier this month.

Speaking from his hospital bed at Wexham Park in Slough Jeff said said: "The song was actually inspired by the First World War and the belief when it started that it would 'all be over by Christmas'.

"I have written hundreds of songs over the years although it has always been a hobby.

"I was feeling well when I recorded them with Jeff and we hoped to release them as an album called The Man With the Moon in his Pocket.

"Putting out Home for Christmas first seemed just right coming soon after Armistice day.

"But the day it came out I had this seizure."

Now he hopes to be home for Christmas and to be able to eventually 'fine tune' the recordings made at the studio.

He said: "I can't play the guitar any more because it has affected my left side but I'm a fighter."
