A youth football club's search for a home that will allow it to expand and grow could soon be over.

Windsor Youth Football Club has reached a deal with Eton Town Council for a 25 year lease on South Meadow Lane Recreation Ground in Eton.

The Town Council owns the site but has struggled without success for years to get funding to rebuild the pavilion on the site.

The new agreement would see the football club would take over and rebuilt it within a two year period.

The club would also take over management of the playing fields - allowing other clubs to use them as well.

Eton Porny School has traditionally used the Recreation Ground for their annual sports day and other sports activities free of charge and this situation would be allowed to continue.

The Town Council is now inviting Eton residents and any other interested parties to make their views known by contacting clerk@etontc.uk before January 21.

Cllr Duncan Reed is chairman of the Town Council's 'task and finish group'.

He said: "The football club has been our tenants there over a decade anyway.

"This is timely because the planning permission for a new pavilion runs out in March so work needs to start.

"The Town Council could not get funding to rebuild but the football club should be able to. They want to expand and build an under-11 team and this will give them the chance."

The new pavilion could cost as much as £250,000 to construct.
