Windsor Girls’ School students have been busy writing Christmas cards to send to care homes across Berkshire.

The school on Imperial Road in Windsor has sent over 60 cards to care home residents and staff to wish them well this Christmas during the pandemic.

The cards have been designed by Year 13 student Becky O’Hara.

Assistant headteacher Katie O'Neill said: “The staff are so proud of the students of our school for suggesting this initiative and organising for the cards to be sent. Students from different year groups across the school have taken part, writing the heart felt messages in each card."

As well as sending Christmas Cards to care homes pupils have donated to the local foodbank Windsor Food Share, to support families in need this festive period.

Head girl Daisy Willcock and deputy head girl Emily Helsby have led the collecting.

Daisy said: “Staff and students of Windsor Girls’ School have participated in a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ this year. Daily we donated different food items that were identified as being in need from Windsor Food Share.

"On Wednesday student leaders collected packed boxes of food from across the school and we were delighted to receive such a vast number of donations.”

Windsor Girls’ School will continue to work with Food Banks in the new year.
