The Royal Borough's hospice has teamed up with another charity to help people get rid of their Christmas trees next month - while supporting the environment.

From January 7 to 10 the managers of the Thames Hospice at Bray Lake and the fund raising members of Windsor Lions have arranged for trees to be collected from peoples' houses across the Windsor and Maidenhead borough - in exchange for a donation.

The hospice provides care and support for people with life threatening illnesses and relies on fundraising to survive.

Speaking about the Christmas tree project event Cco-ordinator at Thames Hospice Margaret Thomas said: "We are very excited about this new project and hope the good people of Windsor, Ascot and Wraysbury will take advantage of this opportunity to ‘go green’ and help Thames Hospice. It’s also great to be able to work with our friends at Windsor Lions again – as far as we are concerned it’s a win:win all round."
