A new 'state of the art' data centre at Link Park Heathrow could eliminate the problem of HGV vehicles travelling through Iver Village and Richings Park it was claimed this week.

The Link Park site occupies a prominent location on Thorney Mill Road, Iver which links West Drayton to the east and Langley/ Slough to the west, providing access to both Junctions 4 and 5 of the M4 motorway and in turn to Junction 15 of the M25.

Link Park Heathrow LLP (LPH) have launched a consultation on proposals for the data centre to be built there - bringing hi-tech industry to Iver which they believe would be an improvement over the current mix of commercial uses.

LPH say it would all but eliminate large vehicles travelling through local roads as well as boosting employment with an anticipated 160 direct and indirect jobs being created.

The site has a long history of commercial uses, beginning with the extraction of sand and gravel, followed later by the storage and processing of railborne aggregates. It is currently home to several different industries, including some related to work on Crossrail 2 and the West Drayton Station improvements.

The project team for the proposed data base is currently in discussions with Buckinghamshire Council, parish councillors and residents about their proposals.

William Woodward-Fisher of LPH said: “This site provides a rare opportunity to build a world-class new generation data centre that can help this part of Buckinghamshire and the United Kingdom more widely, to remain a European market leader in data service provision.

"We are consulting proactively and openly with the local community about our plans for this site. We hope that our proposals address some of their concerns with the current use of the site, and we look forward to discussing the additional local employment and wider economic opportunities that our scheme could create.”

More information and the opportunity to comment on the plans are at www.linkparkheathrow.com. The consultation period will be open until December 14.
