Slough and Langley's leisure centres reopen tomorrow after being given the green light by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Langley Leisure Centre and The Centre in Slough, managed by sports and leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Slough Borough Council, have been closed for a month during the latest lockdown.

Slough Ice Arena will remain closed in line with tier three guidelines. Members affected can utilise their membership at The Centre and Langley Leisure Centre.

The Government has confirmed leisure centres across all tiers will be safe to reopen with strict operational measures in place.

Everyone Active has provided a comprehensive package of online workouts for people to use during lockdown, along with live streamed classes across its social media pages.

Luke Routhorn, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We’re very much looking forward to reopening The Centre and Langley Leisure Centre and welcoming back the local community.

“It is very important to give people the opportunity to resume activity and exercise in their leisure centre, particularly during the winter months, and this will go a long way to maintaining the good health of local communities.

“We would like to thank the 615,000 people across the country who signed the petition we supported to keep gyms open, which triggered a Parliamentary debate and to acknowledge the impressive manner in which the leisure industry has pulled together."

Michael Shepherd, Leisure Development and Client Manager for Slough Borough Council said: “We urge all Slough residents to make use of the leisure opportunities available to them, but reiterate they should follow the Tier 3 government guidance after the current lockdown period ends. Taking these actions should lead to a continued reduction in Covid case numbers allowing us to move down the tier system, and thereby being able to extend the range of health and fitness activities we are able to offer residents as part of our #Fit2FightCovid campaign.”
