St Bernard’s Preparatory School in Hawtrey Close, Slough has been ranked 16th best in England by The Sunday Times Parent Power list - the only prep school in Berkshire to make the paper's top 70.

The school has been a regular fixture in the list for years and made it to number four in 2018.

Headteacher Nathan Cheesman said: "Another strong performance this year is testament to the consistently high standards of teaching and our dedication to individual development at St Bernard’s Prep School. It is such an important lesson to learn as a child, that hard work, commitment and gumption are a winning combination and bring success and smiles all round.”

Mr Cheesman's own personality has played a big role in the school's recent success.

When pupils returned to class in September after an anxious summer break while the pandemic raged, he arranged for them to walk in through a sea of bubbles - as they prepared to attend classes in carefully organised small 'bubbles' to guarantee their safety.
