A yoga teacher and video game star from Slough is hoping her new book will help people find peace after the trauma of lockdown.

Kiran Shashi, 43, who has led yoga sessions at landmarks including the Taj Mahal in India calls her book Total Chakra Balancing - Awaken Your Inner and Outer Beauty.

She said: “It’s been an incredibly tough time for so many people and I’ve been lucky enough that I can continue to teach yoga on Facebook live, YouTube and Zoom.

“But others have clearly not been so fortunate and now there’s a lot of frustration and uncertainty out there.

Slough Observer: “I hope, if anything, that people can take some direction from the book and learn that there is a way to separate yourself from it all and find some tranquility, using amongst other methods, yoga and meditation.”

As well as a trained soul singer Kiran was working as a yoga instructor at Fitness First in High Wycombe when she was chosen to become one of the faces of a Nintendo Wii video game in 2010.

She was one of only three UK yoga models to star in New U Mind Body, Yoga and Pilates Workout. The title is still sold on Amazon today.

The single mother and business owner said: “I’ve learnt so much over the years and working with the Nintendo guys was great fun. I still remember performing the poses for them.

“Now it’s amazing to be putting all my own expertise into a book, which I’ve wanted to do for such a long time.”

Kiran, who has run her business Shashi Yoga in Slough for more than 20 years, says people don’t need to know anything about yoga to enjoy book.

She said: “I’m not into any kind of spiritual snobbery and I personally think it needs to be left behind.

“People shouldn’t be asked to throw away all their possessions and change their lifestyles drastically."
