Christmas lights are being switched on across Windsor, Maidenhead, Eton and Ascot this weekend but without any of the usual ceremonies and activities.

So instead residents are being asked to create their own festive display and share pictures by tagging @MyRoyalBorough using the hashtag #LightUpMyRBWM.

You could win a £250 prize to shop with in the borough.

To be in with the chance of winning residents should post your pictures by Sunday, December 6 tagging @MyRoyalBorough on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (or all 3!) and using the #LightUpMyRBWM. The winner will be announced on Friday, December 11.

Councillor Samantha Rayner, deputy leader of the council, says: “This year has been a challenging year for us all, and we wanted to find ways of the borough getting in the festive spirit and spreading some good cheer on our streets.

“I am really looking forward to seeing all the wonderful displays in your gardens and windows celebrating the festive season."
