The legendary Cumberland Lodge charity in Windsor Great Park is seeking volunteers with its work helping people from across the world to embrace ‘difficult conversations’ and to 'disagree well'.

The charity is based in the 17th century former royal residence, where it hosts diverse activities that bring together leaders, influencers, students and young people for candid conversations on pressing social and ethical issues.

Volunteers are wanted with the right skills and experience to provide administrative support to the staff team, helping to organise the extensive library and archive collections or to have a more public-facing role in welcoming guests to public talks and open days at the Lodge.

The volunteers network is co-ordinated by Peter Symonds, himself a volunteer who lives and works in Windsor and has a keen interest in history. He spent many years managing volunteers for the National Trust at Petworth, in West Sussex.

Peter said: "Volunteering with Cumberland Lodge is a really rewarding experience. It’s a fascinating place, full of history and remarkable stories, and it has an important role to play in inspiring fresh thinking and bringing people together to talk about issues that affect us all.

"This is an exciting time for our volunteers network. People are at the heart of the mission here. It’s a friendly place, where volunteers are very much part of the team, helping to ensure that as many people as possible can experience and contribute to the valuable work that we do.’
