A police officer has been badly hurt during an incident that also saw an emergency worker attacked in Maidenhead.

Two people were charged today following the attacks which happened in King Street at about 2.25am Sunday morning.

Ireneusz Wiater, 34, of no fixed address was charged with one count of assaulting an emergency worker and one count of section 18 wounding with intent to resist or prevent arrest.

Partycja Soroka, 26, of Hughenden Road, Slough was charged with one count of assaulting an emergency worker.

A Thames Valley police officer sustained facial and back injuries while attempting to make an arrest. He was treated in hospital before being released.

Another officer was also assaulted in the same incident but was not injured.

Wiater appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Monday. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on October 19.

Soroka has been released on bail to appear at Slough Magistrates’ Court on October 22.
