Villagers got together to celebrate the first litter pick since lockdown in Wraysbury and Horton on Sunday.

The event was organised by Lyn Holden and Nick Carter who have been involved in organising the villages' bi annual clean for at least five years.

A lot has happened in the world since the last litter pick in February this year.

This time round the usual safety advice was mixed in with extra Covid-19 guidelines.

Lyn Holden oversaw the Wraysbury group, while Carly Ann Gibbins looked after things in Horton. Bin bags and pick up sticks were all provided.

Groups consisting of regulars and newbies across the age span set off to their allocated area, leaving their filled bags for Nick and Keith Pink - another veteran of the litter pick up events - to collect in their trailer.

Royal Borough ward councillor David Cannon also joined the volunteers. He had liaised with the borough to arrange that the filled bags be collected that day from The Green car park, Wraysbury.

Lynn said: "It’s been a rewarding couple of hours with everyone enthusiastically involved and it has to be said that the villages are certainly benefitting with residents regularly keeping on top of litter in their locality over the five years or so. Thanks everyone."
