A police officer was driven at after pulling over a car in High Wycombe.

The officer on a motorbike stopped a car in Rutland Avenue on Thursday (August 13) at around 2.30pm.

As the driver got out of the car and walked towards the police officer, a passenger then moved into the drivers' seat and started to drive the car forward.

The officer, who was still on his motorbike, started to follow - but suddenly the driver reversed towards him, forcing him to get out of the way.

The car then drove at him again, with the officer once again having to take evasive action on his bike.

Fortunately the police officer was not injured.

Two men were arrested in connection with the incident shortly after.

A 27-year-old from Rotherham was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating of an emergency worker, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, section 18 attempt wounding with intent and possession of a controlled drug of class A – cocaine.

He has been released on bail.

A 22-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and is currently in custody.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Francesca Keen, based at High Wycombe police station said, “I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward.

“I would also ask any motorists who were in the local area around the time of this incident to check any dash-cam footage in case it has captured something that could assist with this investigation.
