This comes as architectural specialists Untitled Practice have been appointed to make improvements to Market Square which will see the quality and usability of public spaces enhanced.

Buckinghamshire Council has pledged £4.5 million of funding towards the project, which is being carried out in line with the principles set out in the Aylesbury Garden Town scheme.

Councillor Steve Bowles, the council’s regeneration boss, said: “This is a really exciting project for Aylesbury.

“Creating and improving our public spaces is a key priority and a vital part of the work we are doing to help attract people to work, visit and invest in the town centre.”

As part of the improvements, residents will be asked for their views on the regeneration project.

A questionnaire for businesses, residents and users of the town centre will be managed by Untitled Practice and will run from August 12 to August 26.

This will be the first of a series of public engagement schemes as the town centre’s designs develop.

Councillor Bowles added: “It’s really important to us that we hear the views of those businesses, residents and visitors who use the area the most to help us in the design of both public spaces.

“I would urge all to get involved by visiting www.kmspublicrealm.org.”

The project will focus on creating an attractive environment for residents, with a look at how accessibility can be improved and how creating more open space for everyone can be achieved.
