Windsor's hospice is just £630,000 away from hitting its £3 million ‘Raise The Roof’ fundraising target to complete the build of a new state-of-the-art hospice by Bray Lake near Maidenhead. The Hospice is set to open its doors to patients in October 2020, leaving three months to raise the remaining amount

Last September the charity launched the most ambitious public fundraising appeal in its 30-year history, to help raise £3 million to complete the new hospice for the community.

Thames Hospice Chief Executive, Debbie Raven, said: "We are so grateful to have received such an extraordinary level of support from our community and delighted to have raised more than £2.3 million so far for this fantastic new facility.

“Thanks to everyone’s kindness and generosity, the finish line of this major project is in sight. We are so grateful to each and every person who has contributed. It’s with their help that we will be able to see the dream hospice for Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire become a reality.

“The importance of hospice care has never been more critical as we have stepped up to the recent challenges of Covid-19 and the impact this has had on our community.

"With just three months left, I would urge anyone who is able to get behind us and help us to reach our final target."

There are several ways you can show your support:

• Text raise to 70191 to give £10 for ten bricks to finish the 8-bedded Otter inpatient wing at the new hospice which will be used to care for patients with coronavirus

• A donation of £25 could go a long way towards raising one square metre of a wall in a patient’s bedroom on the Otter wing. Donate at https://www.thameshospice.org.uk/raise-the-walls

• Take on a challenge this summer. Run, cycle or walk and ask your friends and family to sponsor you. Every penny raised represents a new you and a new hospice for our community. You can log your progress and invite loved ones to sponsor you at https://givepenny.com/charity/thames-hospice
