FOUR new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Reading and West Berkshire.

Public Health England figures show 787 COVID-19 cases in Reading as of 23 July, up one from the previous day’s data.

West Berkshire now has 483 cases — three more than it did as of July 22.  

One more case was recorded in Bracknell Forest over the past day. 

The number of cases stayed the same in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead and Wokingham.

Bracknell Forest has the least number of cases in the county, while Reading has the most with 787 as of 23 July. 

In terms of rate of infection, Reading borough also leads the way with 482 cases per 100,000 people.

By comparison, West Berkshire has an infection rate of 304.7.

The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.
