NOISE waking up sleeping children, families unable to sit in their gardens and conversations being drowned out — these are just some of the issues being experienced by Bracknell residents who live near Bagshot Road.

A petition has been set up pleading with the council to build a sound barrier behind the gardens of Bruton Way in Winkfield Row because the noise coming from the B3430 is too loud.

It reads: “The large roundabout at the above location was removed with the implication of a new multi light junction.

“Since this work has taken place, the traffic noise level has increased exponentially with several high powered cars and motorbikes taking the opportunity, whilst stationary, to rev their engines loudly and then accelerate at high speeds creating a torrent of noise on a regular basis at all hours of the day.

“This also happens as high powered vehicles accelerate through the lights when the traffic is low.”

The petition organiser spelt out what the noise means to those who live nearby.

They continued: “Due to the noise levels, residents are unable to sit in their gardens in peace or have a conversation without being interrupted by the noise.

“The windows at the rear of the houses need to be shut to drown out the noise, which is problematic during very hot weather, which is being experienced this summer.

“Residents with young children are unable to have the windows open due to noise waking up sleeping children.”

So far the petition has received twelve signatures.
