A NEW parking scheme has been proposed – and Chalvey residents are being asked to express their views to Slough Borough Council.

An online consultation has been launched on the council’s website about parking restrictions which would operate Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm – and a parking permit will cost £25 if residents want to park in that area during those times.

Parking restrictions such as yellow lines, parking bays, and the permit scheme are proposed to control parking in the residential areas.

The Grove Academy will expand to nearly 2,000 students plus teachers and support staff within the next few years, which the council says will result in ‘significantly increased traffic congestion and parking pressure’ on the residential roads by parents and staff visiting the school.

This scheme will supposedly protect roads from obstructive parking, increased congestion and will prioritise space for residents and businesses.

Slough Observer:

Slough Council stated they will offer each household a free permit for the first two years if passed.

They stated: “We understand there may be a number of additional financial pressures on your household at this time. We are therefore able to offer one free resident permit to each household for the first two years the scheme is operational. This offer has only been made available to residents in the vicinity of the Grove Academy School and does not apply elsewhere in the borough.

“One additional permit can be purchased per household, but only where kerb capacity allows.”

They added: “We acknowledge the changes may not always be desired, so we ask residents and other local people to provide their views.”

The council would like to hear the views from residents who live in the following roads:

  • Alexandra Road
  • Brammas Close
  • Chalvey Road West
  • Church Street
  • Clive Court
  • Damson Grove
