UPDATE: Man who 'got into difficulty' while swimming is still missing, police say
There is a major incident ongoing in Cookham, with police and the air ambulance in attendance, after a man was seen going into the river but not coming out again.
South Central Ambulance Service says rumours circulating on social media that three boys have drowned are incorrect.
In an update at 11.30pm, police said they were called to a fear for welfare in the Odney Lane area after a man was seen going into the Thames but did not come out again.
They are still trying to find the missing man. Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Bucks Fire, Thames Valley Police, SCAS Hazardous Area Response Team, Thames Valley Air Ambulance and Hants and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance are on the scene.
The water rescue unit is currently at the river near The Ferry pub, with police and the Hampshire Constabulary marine unit.
